From 30 April 2026, all dispensing patients will need to nominate a pharmacy to collect their medication, as prescriptions will no longer be dispensed at the surgery.
This change is necessary to allow us to create an additional clinical room, enabling us to see more patients and improve access to appointments, and due to the significant reduction of patients using our Dispensary department.
What is not changing
The way you order your prescriptions will remain the same. You should continue to request your medication from us in the usual way.
How you can receive your medication
You will still have the following options:
1. We can provide you with a paper prescription to take to a pharmacy of your choice.
2. We can send your prescription electronically to a nominated pharmacy. This can be:
o A local (high street) pharmacy where you collect your medication, or
o An online pharmacy that delivers your medication to your home
To find a local pharmacy, you can visit the NHS website or call 111.
How to nominate a pharmacy
Once you have chosen a pharmacy, you can:
· Use the NHS App or NHS website:
Log in (or register), go to Prescriptions, and follow the instructions to nominate a pharmacy
· Register directly with an online pharmacy if you prefer home delivery
· Contact the surgery and let us know your chosen pharmacy
We will continue to dispense medications up to the date stated above according to stock availability, should you wish us to. Should stock not be available, you will be asked to take your prescription to another pharmacy.
We understand this is a change to how you currently collect your medication. Please be assured that our team is here to support you during this transition and answer any questions you may have.
Yours sincerely
